About the Shediac Rotary ClubThe Club was formed in 1979 by 12 members of the community. The first meeting place was held at
the Shediac Hotel in the heart of Shediac,
New Brunswick, a seaside resort of 5,497 (2006 census; a 12.4% change
over 2001 census of 4,892) located on the warm shores of the Northumberland
Strait.
The club is very active in its community and
raises close to $100,000 per year which goes to over 100 different projects. Club members
contribute countless hours in additional volunteer work as well.

The Shediac Rotary Club held its annual spring
Gala on Saturday,
April 25th, 2009 celebrating its 30th anniversary. This event was
highlighted with the recognition of 3 worthy recipients for the Paul Harris
Fellow award. The recipients were: Adrien Surette and Eugène Belliveau both
of Shediac and Louise Boissonnault from Moncton. Both Adrien and Eugène were
recognized for their unconditional dedication to their community through
volunteer work. Louise was honoured for her dedication to the people of
Haiti for her work accomplished through the creation of an agricultural coop
in Terrier Rouge, Haiti.
A silent and a live
auction were held during the celebration. $10,000 of the proceeds earned
through the auction of s multitude of prizes, donated by various artists
from the area as well as other well wishers of the community, was donated to
Louise for use by the Coop Agricole of Terrier Rouge to expand its water
management program. (check
